If you could look 3 years younger without taking a pill, and you could get the effects within 2 months, would you do it? New research suggests you can add years to your life; even reverse aging through safe, simple diet and lifestyle changes.
Researchers at McGill University studied 43 healthy men aged 50-72. The men followed a regimen that focused on eating and sleeping better, exercising and relaxing more, and using probiotic supplements and phytonutrients. Scientists targeted a specific biological mechanism in cells called DNA methylation. This biochemical process moves atoms from one cell to another, controlling the function of cardiovascular, neurological, reproductive, and detoxification systems in our bodies. By altering methylation with natural approaches, the men in the study showed “significant” reductions in the aging of their cells.
So what did they eat every day? A serving of liver or 6 ounces of animal protein, eggs, dark, leafy or calciferous vegetables (along with other colorful vegetables). They did not consume corn, pumpkin seeds, some organic berries or fruit, some turmeric, garlic, and green or oolong tea. They didn’t eat between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. They also used 2 supplements: Phytoganix and UltraFlora. Workouts were at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days, and these men slept at least 7 hours each night.
Researchers hope their findings lead to new, safe, non-pharmaceutical therapies to arrest aging and they are currently enrolling patients in a new, larger study to see if the effects hold up.
